Map Reading Courses in Essex

"But Essex is flat" I hear you cry... why run map reading courses in Essex?

Well, north Essex isn't... not the bit that makes up the Essex / Suffolk borders. The Colne Valley, near Colchester, is definitely a valley and therefore it has curves, it has slopes, it has relief - and enough hills to make some people puff! It is also superbly pretty.

This is why I have chosen this area as it is ideal terrain for people to learn map reading and compass skills to get the best from undertaking their NNAS Bronze navigation training and assessments.

So, within easy reach of London, if you would like to learn to read a map read more here

Ordnance Survey Maps

Great News!

Ordnance Survey have announced that from now when you buy a 1:25,000 scale Explorer Map you will also receive a digital version for use on your smartphone or tablet etc. Not all 1:25,000 Explorer Maps are available with digital download yet as the series is being released in stages. - but most of the National Parks are covered so far.

Although we highly recommend using paper maps and have the training and relevant skills to use them, having a digital map version is a very good 'nice to have' - especially when it is included in the price.
